DIY : glass succulent terrariums

This is not news to many of you…I’m very open about my love for succulent plants. In the process of planning my wedding I became pretty obsessed with these little guys, including them in our floral arrangements and my bridal bouquet.

It is hard for me to walk out of Lowe’s without a new succulent beauty to add to my collection. There is something about having green life in your home that makes everything feel more fresh and alive.IMG_3197Remember when I wrote this WANTED post?  Well I finally got around to working on my own succulent groupings and I love how they turned out!  I’m all about super-easy projects y’all. I finished both of these within 10 minutes.

For this grouping of succulents I wanted to see the variation in their shapes, sizes and colors. I was able to reuse a glass vase that I had recently received a floral arrangement in. The first step was to add a layer of pebbles. Next, I alternated between 1 inch of cactus soil (sprinkle some water to pat the soil down) and 1 inch of pebbles until I got to about 2 inches from the top.  I placed 4 of the plants in a little arrangement and then filled in the rest of the space with the cactus soil.  I topped it off with a final thin layer of pebbles.

terrarium2For this next mini-succulent terrarium, I layered the soil/pebbles in a pint-sized mason.  I was only able to fit one succulent plant in this jar but I think it’s just perfect!  Doesn’t it look just like a green rose?

These succulents are currently sitting pretty on my dining room table as well as my coffee table. It was such an easy way to add some life to my living space! I’m on the hunt for some new fun containers to make some more terrariums in…have any ideas for me?  Be sure to share below!
